We are delighted to share that our Christmas party for street children was fully funded, and that our appeal was a great success thanks to the generous support of our friends from Canada. We welcomed a large number of boys and several girls from the streets, with a total attendance of 167 children. This number was in full compliance with our agreement with the owner of the venue where the Christmas party was held.

We served breakfast to each boy or group of boys who arrived at the party and ensured they had time to rest before participating in the program. As many of the children sleep on the streets, we intentionally allow them time to rest while preparations for the program are underway. We also provided sufficient time for them to shower and cool off. This helps reduce agitation and promotes calm behavior, particularly for those who may arrive under the influence of substances commonly used on the streets.
We provided a special meal to every child and to every person standing outside the venue gates. Our desire was not only for the street children to experience Christโs love at Christmas, but for everyone present to feel it as well because we believe every person matters in the eyes of God.
We made sure that no child left the way they came. Each one received new clothes so they could leave the celebration looking brand new. The joy on their faces was exactly what we had been hoping for, knowing they are remembered, valued, and loved. It meant so much for them to know that people all the way from Canada cared for them and wanted to bless them with a special and beautiful meal.
Our hearts are beyond thankful to our friends a mother and her daughter from the USA, Colorado, who gladly stood with us to support the shelter children, library kids, and community children during our Christmas party. Their support was a huge blessing and made it possible for all our children to enjoy a truly brilliant Christmas filled with presents, plenty of food, and joyful games.
We rented a large playground that included a swimming pool, swings, basketball courts, table tennis, a full boardroom for lunch and cake, music, and a football field. We chose to rent the entire venue so there would be no other guests present, ensuring a safe and secure environment where we could fully protect and care for every child.
Due to the large number of children, we hired two security guards, two professional pool supervisors to monitor all swimming activities, and four caretakers specifically for the event separate from our own team. We knew the celebration would run best and safely by adding extra members to support and care for the children.
The children began by playing a variety of games, while some headed straight to the swimming pool. The younger ones eagerly rushed to the swings and the basketball court. It is these small moments that always bring the children so much happiness especially having the entire play venue to themselves. Watching their smiling, joyful faces was truly heartwarming and a reminder to treasure these moments as they enjoyed the space to the fullest.
While the children were busy playing, we prepared the venue and organized the presents meant for all of them. We also arranged their meals so that, after prayer, each child could easily find their name and know where to go.
The shelter Christmas party brought together children from Deborahโs Library and those from the surrounding community. We celebrated and served all the children together, including the resettled children, creating a joyful and inclusive event for everyone.
We have experienced at least six medical emergencies, with Enockโs case being the most severe. The other incidents were less critical, primarily minor emergencies occurring at night. Among these cases, there was one instance of malaria and two asthma-related emergencies involving two new boys. Several children also suffered from bacterial infections; local clinics typically referred these cases to hospitals, as they are generally equipped to handle malaria rather than infections requiring extensive laboratory work.

Regarding Enock, we were hospitalized for the first four days; however, his condition worsened after discharge, necessitating a return to the hospital. He is currently experiencing significant bone pain, particularly in his legs.
A major challenge in managing Enockโs care has been the unavailability of the doctor with whom we had agreed on a treatment plan. The doctor has been on leave at least until March, which has complicated treatment coordination, particularly when immediate funds are not available. This situation has delayed timely medical intervention, potentially contributing to the severity of illness in three children.
Apart from Enock, the only other child admitted to the hospital was a girl whose malaria test was highly positive (PLUS+). The doctor deemed hospitalization necessary to reduce her temperature before initiating medication. Hospital admissions are costly and significantly impact the available budget.

Recently, the shelter received three child protection cases referred from two different police stations. One case involved a boy referred through the boysโ shelter allocation, while the other two cases involved girls from the slum area where our teen mothersโ program is regularly conducted. Once shelter approval is initiated, the children are formally registered, and police referral letters are obtained to support program registration.
Following this process, the police recommended that the children be placed under the care of the shelter. We received two girls and one boy. The boy is currently staying with his aunt while efforts continue to locate his father, who is believed to have left him in the care of an inappropriate individual. There is no indication of abuse; however, the child experienced repeated abandonment and neglect. Community members reported the situation to the police after frequently observing the child without adequate food or proper clothing, raising concerns that the father had abandoned him.
The two young girls had been left in the care of a cousin after their mother traveled to Juba for work. Over time, the cousin was unable to adequately meet their needs, resulting in neglect and lack of proper supervision. Due to these conditions, the landlord reported the situation to the police, which led to the girlsโ referral to the shelter.
The children have been at the shelter for approximately two weeks. The police have indicated that family tracing efforts will continue until the childrenโs relatives are located. Our team also conducted a tracing visit to a village we were directed to; however, family members who encountered us fled upon seeing the children, indicating a clear avoidance of responsibility. At present, the children remain in the care of the shelter while we await the outcome of the police investigations and determine the appropriate next steps for their long-term care and protection.
The holiday season was both active and meaningful across our shelters. With many children remaining in residence, we maintained a structured daily program to ensure stability, growth, and positive engagement throughout the break. Each day followed a routine that included morning responsibilities, assigned chores, academic revision, and scheduled activities. The children took part in cleaning duties, organizing shared spaces, and helping with daily upkeep learning responsibility, teamwork, and accountability in the process. These life skills are an important part of preparing them for independence and successful reintegration into family and community life. Alongside their responsibilities, the children worked on holiday assignments and study revision to prepare for the new school term. We were encouraged by their focus and commitment to learning.
Several older children were able to spend time with relatives during the holidays a positive step toward strengthening family connections. Five of our boys also joined a free band instrument training program, discovering new talents and building confidence through music. In addition, the children enjoyed board games, mentorship, and special sports sessions including tennis and basketball training provided by a visiting group.
While growth always comes with small challenges, we saw encouraging progress in discipline, cooperation, and personal development. The holiday period was not just a break from school, it was a time of learning, structure, and character building.
To strengthen our programs and ensure the continued safety and well-being of the children in our care, we recently implemented important structural changes within our team. These decisions were made after thoughtful review and careful planning, with one clear priority: protecting the stability of our programs and the children we serve. While change is never easy, it has allowed us to move forward with greater clarity, stronger systems, and improved accountability.
Despite a season of operational challenges, our commitment has never wavered. Through collaboration, careful planning, and trusted partnerships with service providers, our programs have continued to run and grow. We remain focused on responsible management, long-term sustainability, and delivering real impact. This period has reinforced the importance of resilience, transparency, and strong leadership. Today, our structure is stronger, and our mission remains the same to protect, restore, and empower vulnerable children and families.
As a result of this process, three individuals namely:- ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ค๐๐ฒ, ๐๐ฎ๐ค๐๐ง๐ฒ๐ ๐๐จ๐ก๐ง๐๐จ๐ฌ๐๐จ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฒwere released from their volunteering roles last year, and the separation was formally concluded and legally finalized in January 2025. This was a difficult but necessary decision made in the best interest of maintaining a safe, stable, and well functioning environment for the children and the organization as a whole. Thank you for your continued trust, support, and belief in this work. Together, we keep moving forward.
We are fully registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Uganda and is duly recognized by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB). We comply with all legal requirements, including filing annual returns with URSB, and have completed several registration and application processes with the relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies as required.
We are pleased to share that our 2025 ๐๐ป๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐บ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ have been successfully submitted. This includes:- - Annual Returns filed with URSB
- Annual Impact Report submitted to the NGO Bureau
- Audited Financial Report submitted to the NGO Bureau
Some of our children are off to the cinema for a fun movie outing, enjoying a well-deserved break and time to laugh, learn, and just be kids!

We are now preparing to file 18 additional files with the relevant departmental offices responsible for childrenโs affairs, as requested. While this involves substantial paperwork, it highlights our dedication to transparency and reinforces our commitment to the programs and children we serve.

We plan to restart our remaining programs in March. Currently, the Street Kids Program continues to operate, providing essential support such as meals, hygiene assistance, and fellowship sessions lasting approximately one and a half to two hours.
This limited schedule is necessary due to safety concerns and recent incidents that have made prolonged gatherings of youth challenging. Authorities have expressed concerns that large assemblies could pose a risk, resulting in the program being conducted for one hour on Friday afternoons only.

We currently operates eight program centers, including three residential shelters. Of the six centers, several have been cleaned, organized, and made suitable for ongoing program activities.

However, due to space constraints and sanitation challenges, we have adjusted operations in the womenโs program wing. Despite regular cleaning and hygiene monitoring, high usage and repeated non-compliance with sanitation guidelines made it unsustainable, resulting in increased operational costs.To ensure health and safety, the current womenโs wing has been closed, and we are actively seeking an alternative space with two rooms to support womenโs programs and accommodate emergency beds if needed. This adjustment will improve hygiene, reduce recurring costs, and maintain appropriate standards of care.
Other program centers have undergone initial improvements but are not yet fully operational. Minor enhancements and routine maintenance will be completed to ensure these centers can support full program delivery once all children return to school.
The Street Kids Drop-In Centre will be a safe and welcoming home for our street childrenโs program, providing a permanent space rather than a temporary one that comes with many challenges and disadvantages. It will offer protection from harsh weather and daily dangers while creating an environment of dignity and privacy. Through the program, children will receive counseling, emotional support, personal care, and guidance from dedicated social workers. It will also provide opportunities for learning, recreational activities, and life-skills development. The centre will serve as a place of stability, healing, and hope, helping children grow and experience the consistent care and support they deserve.

The image above shows the area we plan to establish as the Drop-In Centre. The construction is nearly complete, and the property has a large compound and spacious facilities that will make our programs much easier to run and more effective.
When individuals or groups come alongside us to fund the Street Kids Drop In Centre, they will play a vital role in ensuring our street kids program runs smoothly and effectively. Their support will help us overcome key challenges: first, it will provide a safe and permanent space, protecting children from harsh weather and the dangers of temporary outdoor settings.
Second, it will create privacy and dignity for counseling, personal care, and emotional support needs that are difficult to meet in borrowed or makeshift spaces.
Furthermore, their partnership will legitimize our Drop In Centre, making it possible to welcome children consistently and provide holistic care, including rehabilitation, counseling, re-enrollment in school, and guiding them on their road to healing and recovery. By funding this centre, supporters will help create a stable, nurturing environment where children can grow, heal, and experience hope every day.
We urgently seek Godโs provision of $4,000 to fully secure the Drop-In Centre before construction is completed. Without these funds or a faithful group willing to step in before the end of March, the property may be rented to others. Pray and give, trusting that God will move hearts and open doors so that this centre becomes a permanent sanctuary where His love, care, and hope can be poured into the lives of our street children, giving them a safe place to learn, play, and grow. Your support will secure this vital space, ensuring that our street children have a permanent sanctuary to learn, play, and grow.
After a long holiday period during which the children enjoyed the festive season, it is now time for them to resume school. They were initially scheduled to return in late January; however, the state postponed the resumption to 10th February 2025 due to anticipated unrest and safety concerns across the city. Our program prioritizes children in critical classes, beginning with those in university and secondary school, and then primary school students particularly those preparing for national examinations in secondary school. This phased approach also takes into account the payment of registration fees, ensuring that children in examination classes are supported first.
Our goal is to ensure that every child returns to school with at least half of their school fees and the necessary requirements to continue their education. By paying a portion of the fees for each child, we are able to meet the needs of all the children in our care. Enrollment is carried out in cohorts, which allows us to manage the process efficiently, and it typically takes about three weeks to ensure that all children are fully enrolled. All children residing in our shelters attend boarding schools, while only the children in Deborahโs Library program attend day schools.
At the moment, we are focusing on ensuring that our boys in university are re-enrolled first, as they are in the most critical stage of their education, with the remaining children to follow thereafter.
Our hope is to raise $8,000 to cover school fees, scholastic materials, and all boarding school needs for the children in our care. We strongly believe in the transformative power of education, recognizing it as a vital tool for rehabilitating children and guiding them toward socially appropriate behaviors. Through education, they gain not only knowledge but also the confidence and skills to aspire toward their goals and pursue meaningful futures. By investing in their education, we are equipping these children with the foundation they need to grow, thrive, and achieve their full potential.
Please pray for continued wisdom as we steward the resources entrusted to this ministry. We have faced challenges in safeguarding program materials and shelter property, requiring firm decisions to protect the sustainability of the work. Pray for growth in responsibility, integrity, and respect among the boys, and for unity and peace within the shelter community.
Please pray for several boys who previously stepped away due influence from the programs and have since expressed a desire to return. While each situation is carefully considered, not every path allows for immediate reintegration due to safety and program structure considerations. Pray that God would guide and protect them, continue His transforming work in their lives, and grant our team discernment, compassion, and strength as we balance grace with necessary boundaries.
Please pray for the establishment of our Street Kids Drop-In Centre, a safe haven that will provide shelter from harsh weather, privacy for counseling and personal care, and space for learning, play, and growth. We are trusting God to help us raise $4,000 to make this sanctuary a reality. Pray that the Lord will move hearts to give generously and provide every resource needed. Ask for His blessing upon our social workers as they serve and support these vulnerable children. May this centre become a place of protection, healing, dignity, and restored hope.

At present, only the girlsโ shelter rent is consistently covered each month through the generosity of our friends from Canada. We thank God for His grace and wisdom given to Hajara, who has worked diligently to organize agreements with service providers that allow partial payments, enabling vital programs and services to continue. Please pray for lasting financial partnerships that will bring stability, sustainability, and expansion to this work.
