Program Overview

The Street Youth Group Counseling Initiative supports older street boys through counseling, mentorship, family engagement and rehabilitation preparation.

The program works to reduce exposure to violence, substance abuse, exploitation, gang recruitment and other risks associated with street life.

During this reporting period, 15 boys were engaged through twice-weekly evening counseling sessions held in accessible community spaces. Individual support focused on their experiences, personal challenges and readiness for positive change.

Counseling & Participant Progress

Sessions addressed emotional healing, personal responsibility, conflict resolution, trauma, substance abuse awareness, family relationships and future planning.

Several participants demonstrated improved trust, openness and interest in changing their circumstances. Six maintained regular attendance, three showed strong commitment, while six were identified as ready for transition support.

Key Achievements

One participant successfully completed the preparation stage and began transitioning into the Independent Living House Program following consistent engagement, counseling and positive behavioral progress.

His progress has encouraged other boys to consider vocational training and rehabilitation opportunities. Family tracing and engagement also continued to explore possibilities for safe family reintegration.

Challenges & Next Steps

Key challenges include irregular attendance, substance abuse, peer influence, unstable living conditions, family separation and limited economic opportunities.

Two cases also required police station involvement and will receive appropriate follow-up, assessment and welfare support.

The next phase will prioritize continued counseling, family engagement, vocational training assessment, transition preparation and pathways toward independent living.
