Our Leadership Structural Changes

At Save Sunshine Shelter Kids, the safety, well-being, and growth of the children we serve are always our top priorities. To strengthen our programs and ensure their continued impact, we recently implemented important structural changes within our leadership team.

These changes followed a careful review and thoughtful planning process, guided by a single priority: maintaining stability for our programs and the children in our care. While change is never easy, it has allowed us to move forward with greater clarity, stronger systems, and enhanced accountability.

Even during a season of operational challenges, our commitment has remained steadfast. Through collaboration, careful planning, and trusted partnerships with service providers, our programs have continued to operate effectively and expand. We remain focused on responsible management, long-term sustainability, and delivering tangible results for those we serve.

This period has reinforced the importance of resilience, transparency, and strong leadership. Today, our organizational structure is stronger than ever, and our mission remains unchanged: to protect, restore, and empower vulnerable children and families.

As part of this process, three individuals:- 𝐊𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐮𝐥 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐲, 𝐁𝐮𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧𝐛𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨, and 𝐍𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐠𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐲 were released from their volunteering roles last year. The separation was formally concluded and legally finalized in January 2025. While this was a difficult decision, it was necessary to ensure a safe, stable, and well-functioning environment for both our children and the organization as a whole.

We are deeply grateful for the trust, support, and belief our community continues to show in our work. Together, we will keep moving forward stronger, more focused, and more committed than ever to making a real difference.

Hajara Namuyanja

Miss. Hajara Namuyanja

Hajara’s compassion for children surpasses what words can fully capture. Her dedication to developing well-structured and impactful programs, and her ability to inspire children to dream again, is truly exceptional.

She rescues vulnerable children and envisions their potential, making predictions that often turn out to be extraordinary.

Through her guidance, she motivates them to aim higher and pursue a brighter future an approach that has drawn many to her programs.

She remains committed to her programs, working tirelessly each day to ensure they continue to thrive, despite the challenges and obstacles she encounters.

Miss. Gloria Ameno

While pursuing my diploma in Social Work and Social Administration at university, I met Hajara during a school presentation. I was drawn to her experience and genuine passion for children and wanted to learn more about her work and how I could contribute. At that time, she had just begun her teen mothers program, and I started volunteering with her. Since then, it has been a remarkable journey.

What has always impressed me is her dedication and resourcefulness, she works tirelessly, maximizing the resources available to support not only the children but also the entire team.

Peter Kasagga Kateragga

Mr. Peter Kasagga Kateragga

Peter is a compassionate individual who has been with us from the very beginning. A devoted Christian, he has supported the team spiritually and leads our prayers, helping us grow in many ways. Peter first met Hajara in secondary school, at a time when she was already running her programs.

As youth, we were inspired by her focus and determination, gathering clothes and leftover food for street children, delivering them at night, and volunteering tirelessly while maintaining her responsibilities. Witnessing her dedication was deeply inspiring, and it motivated me to become involved and contribute whenever possible.

Diana Nakabanda

Mrs. Diana Nakabanda

Hajara was the first person to hire me and pay me my worth, while also teaching me the importance of saving and planning for my future as a woman with children. Her maturity and integrity draw people to her, particularly her commitment to placing children in proper schools, something rare among those running similar programs.

The way she provides for and nourishes the children is remarkable; she treats them as if they were her own, caring deeply about their health and wellbeing. I believe this combination of passion, dedication, and genuine care is what makes her an extraordinary leader, and it is what inspired me from the very first day I met her.
