Emmanuel's Story

Emma's Story

A story of hope, struggle, and resilience

His Journey

Program Update Emmanuel came to us through a recommendation from a community member who had observed the difficulties his mother was facing as a single parent. She was unable to be present at all times, which left Emmanuel in challenging and often unprepared circumstances. There were growing concerns that, without support, he might be drawn into negative influences within the community he was growing up in.

We agreed to take Emmanuel in for a period of one year to provide him with stability while his mother worked toward becoming financially and emotionally stable. This arrangement allows time for her to get back on her feet, with the understanding that Emmanuel will be resettled once she confirms she is in a position to care for him. At that point, she will be able to take him back from the shelter.

“We enrolled Emmanuel in school, however, due to the years he had missed schooling, he had to be placed in a lower grade to help him catch up academically and adjust more comfortably to the learning environment.”

It has not been easy, but it has required a great deal of patience, as each child struggles in their own way. Emmanuel, like the other children, has faced his own behavioral and emotional challenges, including difficulties around adjustment and attachment.

We understood that providing him with time, consistency, and a safe, loving environment could gradually improve his situation and support his overall development. This approach was aimed at making his eventual transition smoother and more stable. Program Update
